São Paulo – Congonhas Airport (CGH) is the third busiest airport in Brazil by passenger traffic. The airport is conveniently located in the city, close to Ibirapuera Park, Avenida Berrine, and Avenida Paulista.
No matter your budget and how you choose to travel, here are your options to travel between Congonhas Airport and your destination in São Paulo.
By subway (metrô)
The nearest metrô station (São Judas on blue line) is located about 3km / 2mi from the airport. To get there, take the bus outside the arrivals hall (route 609J-10 to Metrô São Judas) which runs every 15 minutes between 5am and 11.40pm, and takes about 15/20 minutes to the metrô station.
The mêtro takes another 20 minutes to downtown São Paulo (Sé station). The bus and metrô fares are R$ 4 each, but with a single ticket, bus + metrô becomes R$ 6.96. Check out SP mêtro map.
By bus (ônibus)
The Airport Bus Service runs 24 hours between Congonhas and Garulhos Airport, with buses scheduled every 30-40 minutes. The journey takes about an hour. The fare is R$ 50, and tickets can be bought at the airport desk in cash and debit/credit card. If you’re travelling with Gol or TAM, there’s a free shuttle (see below).
To get downtown, you can also take a regular bus operated by SPTrans. Several routes go through Avenida Paulista. Depending on your destination and traffic, the journey can take 30-60 minutes, and the fare is R$ 4.
There are two authorized airport taxi companies: Taxi Point 606, the cheapest, and Red and White Taxi, with comfortable vehicles and higher prices.
Both companies have desks at the arrivals hall (ground floor). Rates are fixed. For example, a ride to Avenida Paulista should be around R$ 40. Most taxis accept debit and credit cards, but do confirm before getting into the taxi.
You can take an Uber in São Paulo. You need a smartphone to access the Uber app. Depending on your destination, there’s a chance an Uber ride may cost less than a cab ride.
Free shuttle from Congonhas Airport to Guarulhos
Gol and TAM offer a free non-stop shuttle for passengers with connecting flights, which runs on the half-hour from 5.30am to 10.30pm. To use this service, simply show your boarding pass (printed or digital version on a mobile device) or ticket reservation to the bus driver.
